My passion for animal assisted psychotherapy is larger than just wanting cute dogs to pet (though how is that ever NOT a bonus?). Incorporating animals into my therapy practice is bringing my most authentic self into counseling, as I firmly believe in the biophelia hypothesis- basically that humans are hardwired to be connected to nature, from plants to pooches. *Please note at this time my therapy dogs are in training and not in sessions yet*
In my 16 years in the field of social work, I have spent the majority of my time providing case management (and counseling when I completed my MSW in August 2019) services to families and children/adolescents. I enjoy working with individuals of all ages and stages, as well as couples and family sessions.
My style is direct, empathetic, and individual to you-and when possible, I like to infuse our sessions with as much levity & humor as possible. I am a safe place and an ally, and provide affirming care and support to all.

I believe that each person is the expert of themself, and that my purpose is simply to support you on your journey of growth. The variety of stressors and trauma that many encounter in life can lead to feeling stuck, and by creating a safe space for our sessions where we can process these events together we can move to a place of empowerment and healing. I visualize the therapy experience with my role as being a person holding a mirror for you to see what you love and want to enhance, and perhaps would like to change or do differently. I will work with you to create a safe, trusting space where I can provide you honest feedback and guidance. After many years of working with children & adolescents, I have a pretty solid stash of therapy board games & fidgets too!
In our first few sessions, we will work to identify what your goals are and how we can accomplish them during our counseling sessions- this treatment plan serves as a guide to keep to measure our progress.
